Heartless

Summary: Heartless picks up where the 2003 movie left off...only without all those end credits and film and music licencing. I like to think I’m a completist, but there are limits.

Genre: Fantasy/Adventure/Romance with occasional naughty bits.

Rating: Heartless is mainly PG – PG-13 with some R chapters later on...and the latter will be clearly marked as such.

Pairing: Hook/OC...of the adult female persuasion. (and as Gawd is mah witness, I’d nevuh go an’ make ya’ll read a Mary Sue agin!!!)

Based On: Mainly, the recent P.J. Hogan flick starring the sexiest man in the universe. (that would be Jason Isaacs, for the sorrowfully unenlightened) Secondarily, though importantly, the J.M. Barrie book based on his play. However, where the two come into conflict, I've chosen to go with the film adaptation. (e.g. Hook briefly flies in the movie, Peter never returns in later years for Wendy or any of her offspring.) Note: There are other literary references in the story, as well. It isn’t absolutely necessary, but the more you know about Gothic, Victorian and Gilded Age lit, (particularly fantasy, horror & children’s lit) the more you can play along.

"Ye": Proper Pronunciation: Call it a peeve of mine and forgive me this moment of anal stenosis; but, this gets used a lot in archaic and piratical speech and thanks to decades of Hollywood B-movies, it gets mangled almost every time. For the record, it isn't pronounced, "yee". It's pronounced, "yeh". ...Thank you. I feel cleansed, now.

Disclaimer: If anyone reading this doesn’t know that I don’t own characters like Hook, Pan and Tinkerbell, I have got this amaaaazing bridge in Brooklyn that I can swing you a deal on soooo cheap...!

Thanks: I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to my wonderful, talented, incredibly patient and long-suffering friend and beta reader, Susan C. Mitchell, a.k.a. "Cactus Wren". I wouldn't think to post a paragraph without her input. Also, to my good friend Tiriel, who was generous enough to lend me webspace for a while back when my story was spiraling into the tenth circle of Geocities hell.
